Note on using ancestry.com Message Boards:
Both of these message boards are free to access and if one registers for free, and subscribes for free, then any messages posted, will be sent to their e-mail address. Its interesting to note that the now defunct genealogy.com site has later post than the two Middlebrooks sites. Hard to figure.
FOR THOSE THAT DO NOT HAVE AN ANCESTRY OR ROOTSWEB ACCOUNT:
How to free register is convoluted and an examination is needed on how to register. I could not find a direct link to the free registration, and found that:
1] Go to Ancestry.com,
2] Select SEARCH toward the upper right of the screen,
3] Mouse hover over Collaborate and select Message Boards.
4] Under Find a board… type in Middlebrook in the Surnames or topics box, then click Go,
5] Select either Middlebrook or Middlebrooks and numerous messages will be listed,
6] Across Middlebrook there is a button box to Begin New Thread
7] Click on the Begin New Thread
8] Finally the Registration screen appears [only if your are not signed in; none of this applies if your a register member with Ancestry].
Once registered, posted messages can be answered on any message board.
To get e-mails sent to you from the message board, one has to first register (free), Then go to RootsWeb.com, select mailing lists, type in Middlebrook and click Find. Click on the MIDDLEBROOK link. Cut and past the MIDDLEBROOK-L-request@rootsweb.com into what ever e-mail program is used and place subscribe in both the subject line and message body. Repeat for the MIDDLEBROOKS-L surname list.
